Top 10 Holiday Parks

Scenic Walks

There are so many excellent short walks, native bush walks, river trails and extended hikes to enjoy here in Whangarei. We have Whangarei Walks brochures in the office that include trail maps, or ask us about the best walks to suit the type of experience you'd like to have. Here are three of our favourites:

Whangarei Falls

An easy 1 hour stroll through lush native bush brings you to Whangarei Falls, one of our most-visited natural attractions. Water tumbles more than 25 metres into a bush-fringed pool and there are a number of viewing platforms from which to enjoy the waterfall. Take a picnic.

Parihaka

Whangarei Top 10 Holiday Park is nestled under the shadow of Mount Parihaka. This historical site features extensive remnants from an ancient Maori settlement including three heavily defended Pa sites (one of which was the site of a major battle and massacre in the 1700's). At the summit of Parihaka, you will find the Whangarei War Memorial and a look-out with amazing views of Whangarei City and our harbour. You can drive part of the way up Parihaka, or take a 1 hour walk, beginning right here at our holiday park, crossing the river bridge and taking one of a number of tracks to the summit.

AH Reed Memorial Kauri Park

Take a 30 minute walk through this stunning bush reserve. This walk includes a canopy walkway, which gives you a bird's eye view of the lush forest as you walk amongst the tree tops, including 500 year old Kauri trees! This park has full access for wheelchairs.
