Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre
Right next to the Whangarei Museum & Heritage Park is the Native Bird Recovery Centre. Admission is free, and here you can see the injured and endangered birds who are being cared for and nursed back to health, at this unique aviary – from magnificent albatross to the cheeky New Zealand fantail. Whangarei TOP 10 Holiday Park are proud sponsors of the Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre, and would like to acknowledge the wonderful work the team there do, to ensure the survival of our native birds.


The Whangarei Museum & Heritage Park
The Whangarei Museum & Heritage Park has a live Kiwi encounter (New Zealand’s endangered iconic bird), historic buildings including a magnificent Kauri homestead dating back to 1886, vintage vehicles and machinery, as well as beautiful bush walks to enjoy and much more. A fun place to be for the whole family.


Claphams Clocks
Claphams Clocks, our National Clock Museum, is located at the Town Basin next to the giant sundial, and has the Southern Hemisphere’s largest collection of clocks and timepieces. Regular tours are always available, which promise to entertain both young and old.


Quarry Arts Centre
This bush-clad ex-quarry site provides a unique working environment for many artists and crafts people who come together to share ideas and expertise. Wander around this unique site and visit the artists working in their studios, and be sure to visit the Art Gallery and shop. Open daily 9.30am-4.30pm.


Sky City 5 Theatre Cinema
Five theatres featuring the latest movies, situated in James Street in the city centre.


Chipmunks Children’s Play Zone
Chipmunks is a pay-for-play, indoor children’s adventure play-land, and café. A great place for younger children, for both entertainment and education. Open 7 days 9.30am-6pm.


Ten Pin Bowling and Entertainment Centre
You’ll find a friendly atmosphere at the Ten Pin Bowling / Laser Strike Entertainment Centre, situated at Okara Shopping Centre on Okara Drive. The ultimate place for family fun!


Whangarei Museum & Heritage Park, Kiwi North
The Whangarei Museum & Heritage Park has a live Kiwi encounter (New Zealand’s endangered iconic bird), historic buildings including a magnificent Kauri homestead dating back to 1886, vintage vehicles and machinery, as well as a museum with Maori taonga and early settler collections. There are beautiful bush walks to enjoy so it’s a fun place to be for the whole family. Situated on the outskirts of the city, on State Highway 14.
